    Clinical IT Analyst - Laboratory

     

    Post Acute Medical (PAM) is a rapidly expanding network of Rehab and LTAC hospitals and we seek a talented Clinical IT Analyst – Laboratory to assist in this expansion.  Reporting directly to the VP of Clinical IT, this individual will help build and maintain laboratory and other interfaces to our EHR (Medhost Enterprise). We seek hard working individuals  with a positive attitude that are looking for a challenge.  This position will require approximately 50% travel.

    Responsibilities

    Resaponsibilities

    • Key person responsible for development, implementation, maintenance, support and enhancement of interface solutions as related to Medhost Enterprise EHR within Rehab and LTAC Hospitals
    • Communicates with MEDHOST and 3rd parties concerning interface requirements
    • Regularly meets with users, vendors, and LIS staff to develop/modify system specifications and interfaces.
    • Monitors and oversees the performance of the laboratory information system to ensure that is it functioning correctly and meeting the needs of the hospital.
    • Implements all aspects of system requirements, including systems analysis, policy and procedure documentation, test plans, system performance, and clinical user training.
    • Works with hospital clinical staff to identify the functional capabilities of the specialized software applications, investigate causes of system malfunctions, troubleshoots source of errors.
    • Working in close coordination with a technical project manager in the build of new lab interfaces between Medhost and a variety of reference labs such as LabCorp. Tracks project status, issues and progress. 
    • Evaluates software and makes recommendations regarding software upgrades and new modules.
    • Supports a 24/7 operation onsite and remotely via mobile device after hours.

    Communication

    • Keeps VP of Clinical IT, or designee informed on the status of all assigned projects on a regular basis.
    • Maintains open and positive communication lines with the IT Department staff.
    • Communicate effectively with Vendors.
    • Advises the VP of Clinical IT, or designee of problems and status of projects related to the SMS or HMS system

    Qualifications

    Education and Training:  Required:  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent of education and experience.  Desired:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.  A technology-oriented bachelor’s degree is desirable.

     

    Experience:  Three or more years of Laboratory Information Systems experience. MedHost laboratory information system experience a plus.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Laboratory system applications (i.e. Gen Lab, Blood Bank, Micro, AP, Dictation, Outreach, etc.) implementation, enhancement and support methods and practices.
    • Working knowledge of computer systems analysis and programming techniques and procedures, including: consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, coding, debugging, or modification of computer systems or programs based on and related to user design specifications.
    • Basic knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics.
    • Basic knowledge of project management methods.
    • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications.
    • General familiarity with regulatory requirements that impact Laboratory systems such as JCAHO, CAP, FDA and various state regulations.
